I’ll also be mentoring two high school writers through the Adroit Journal Summer Mentorship Program again this year, so if you are or know of any high school-age writers, here’s all the information. This will be my third year with the program and it’s always a great time. The deadline is March 15, though, so you better get on it!

hi! do you have any recommendations for young writers trying to get into adroit’s mentorship program in 2023?

I’m just a mentor and not involved in deciding amongst the applicants, so I don’t have any insider tips for you, but I’d say read a lot (and widely) and write even more. In general, in life, any writing-based competition is always going to 90% come down to the strength of your writing sample.
